Heart Lifting Music
Christian music with high standards is hard to find these days! I praise God for Christian ministries like Sound Forth, Sacred Music Services, Majesty Music, and the Wilds. These four ministries (and many others) around the country are producing recordings and choir music/sheet music that glorifies the Rock of Ages and does not give in to the contemporary age of rock. It is our desire to be another sound source for Christians of godly, Christ honoring music.
In January of 1972, in the basement of First Baptist Church in Manhattan, my first song was born
"Weeping For Souls". Since that first song in 1972, almost fifty more songs have been written with Biblical content and heart lifting melodies. It is amazing that the Lord has allowed me to write this many songs, because I did not take any music theory classes while in college. It is just a gift for which I must give Him all the glory.
A songbook was completed in 1987, containing 25 songs. (See Store) Then, in 1989, Donna and I went to Northland Baptist Bible College in Dunbar, Wisconsin with our pianist, David Ledgerwood, and recorded those same 25 songs. The recording is called Songs To Lift The Heart and is 66 minutes in length. (See Store) Besides the wonderful accompaniment of David Ledgerwood, the Northern Lights (a twenty voice choir from Northland) sing with us on eight of the songs, and Glenn Christianson masterfully added beautiful orchestration. For this much music, our prices are very moderate: $14 for the CD; $12 for the cassette tape; and $10.00 for the songbook, plus shipping costs.
The Lord willing, Donna and I will be making a long-awaited second recording in the near future. It will contain more original songs written between 1986 and 2003. Check back with us on Store to see when this new recording is available. Also, as the Lord provides, we look forward to producing choir arrangements of my original songs.
We have sold over seven thousand copies of Songs To Lift The Heart in both the CD and cassette format, and 3,500 songbooks, and that has been mostly before our full-time traveling ministry began. We have received many letters through the years expressing appreciation for conservative, Christ-honoring music that has been uplifting and edifying as they have listened to these twenty-five songs. It is our prayer that God will continue to use our music for His glory and the edification of God's people.
