New York City Ministries Leading NYC Mission Trips For Teens and Adults NYSET New York Summer Evangelism Team Leading NYC Mission Trips          For Teens and Adults Youth Pastors are always looking for places to take their teens that will burden them for lost souls. Within the lower forty-eight there is no place like New York City to take a mission trip!! With a population of over 8,000,000 souls, composed of every nationality imaginable, teens and adults in one week will have the opportunity to give Gospel tracts to people from all over the world. Sharing Christ with unsaved people is commanded in the Great Commission, and it is also exciting and challenging. New Yorkers are not only multi-national, they are also from every religious background of the world. While the Pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Corona, Queens from 1974 to 1986, we had groups come to our church several times a year assisting with our outreach ministry. It was always a joy to host a group of adults and teens, but it was time consuming! God has led Donna and me to be hosts to teams that come in from around the country. There are several reasons that we want to do this: Our years of experience have equipped us for this ministry; We know the NYC very well, and can help the adult/teen groups get around anywhere in the five boroughs, and can be "tour guides"; We want to be a help and blessing to the host Pastor who houses the group, by taking the main responsibility for the group so he can go on with his day-to-day pastoral duties; We have a great burden for New York City, and want to expose the needs of this vast city to as many Christians as possible; And finally, since the horrific events of September 11th, 2001, many New Yorkers are looking for answers and have become more open to the Gospel. The fields are white unto harvest (John 4:35), but the laborers are few. (Matthew 9:37) Donna and I are praying that we will be able to see many youth/adult mission trips come to New York City each summer. Briefly--how this all works. There are many details to work out (dates, which church has an opening to house a group, directions, what particular ministries the group will be involved in, etc.). Through communicating by e-mail and/or phone we can work out these many details. We are looking for groups of like precious faith (see Our Doctrinal Position) with a burden for the lost to come and be a real blessing to the churches of New York City. Youth Pastors, we want you to have high standards for the teens you allow to come on this trip. We will have requirements that will have to be met to qualify teens to be part of your team. We need your most dedicated, spiritual teens to do this important ministry. We look forward to working with you. NYSET      New York Summer Evangelism Team Besides seeing many youth and adult groups come to Faith Baptist Church in Queens on mission trips, the Lord burdened my heart to have young men come to our church from Bible colleges to assist in our soulwinning efforts. We had from two to six ministerial students every summer from 1976 to 1984, nine of the twelve years we served in Queens. Many of the Pastors in New York City could use the help of young, energetic men to help them evangelize during the summer months. The Lord has given me the vision and burden to go to strong, fundamental Bible colleges across America during our nine months of traveling and recruit ministerial students for NYSET. The young men who come will stay in teams of two in church buildings throughout the different boroughs of New York City, and will assist the Pastors of those churches on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer. Every Monday through Friday all of the young men will assemble at one church, where we will do intense evangelistic work in the area of that church. We will do the following: ì Give out Gospel tracts and witness to people on the streets, in the parks and door-to-door; (All the tracts and brochures we give out will have the name, address, phone number and service times of the church we are assisting that week. It is our desire to see many people saved throughout the City, and then steer those new converts to good local churches where they can grow in Christ.) ìEngage young people in basketball or soccer games and share Christ with them when the games finish; ìGo to where the people are on the streets and in parks and do open-air preaching with a portable P.A. system that God has provided. If you are a ministerial student preparing to be a Pastor, Missionary or Evangelist and you have completed at least one year of Bible college, please prayerfully consider NYSET. I cannot offer you a salary, and the inner-city churches we will be working with will not be able to either. However, there are three ways this ministry will be financed: I will be doing everything in my power to raise money from the churches we minister in for the NYSET team members; the churches that these young men stay in and help every weekend all summer will do what they can in the way of love offerings; and, then each young man coming on NYSET can get deputation experience by raising support from his home church, friends, relatives and other churches. Young men, this will be a wonderful experience for you! You will witness to people of every nationality, culture and religion. It will stretch you. Your Bible knowledge will be put to the test. You will be exposed to the needs of the inner-city. You will have the joy of seeing people saved who have never heard the Gospel before, and then see those new converts get into sound, Bible-preaching churches where they can grow in Christ.
